Last summer was the last time I had a chance to spend time with Horace Farlowe. He was installing his sculpture Letter A Bench here in Asheboro, NC. I asked him why he had been willing to bring this wonderful sculpture all the way up here from Athens for such a small honorarium. He answered that as a kid growing up in neighboring Robbins, NC coming to Asheboro was the big city for him. It had a special place in his memory.

There is the beginnings of a movement here to keep this sculpture permanently on the grounds of  Asheboro's Art Deco,  Municipal building. Donations are already coming in. If you would like to help you can send a check ( identify it for Farlowe Sculpture) to the non profit Asheboro Parks Foundation, c/o Asheboro Parks and Recreation Department, P.O. Box 1106, Asheboro, NC
